| Taking your MA
Twenty one terms after matriculation the University considers you to have reached a degree
of maturity and knowledge that you may be admitted to the degree of Master of Arts and exercise the full rights
and privileges of a Senior Member of the University.
Like any other Oxford degree it must be conferred upon you, either in person or in absentia, and for this (and the certificate) there is an administrative
charge of £20, shared between the University and the College.
Because of space restrictions in the Sheldonian it is not possible to enter more than a fraction of any matriculation year for a ceremony in the Sheldonian, but more
recently LMH has organised a special in-College ceremony for Masters to swear their oaths to the University and receive their certificates. A reception afterwards focusses on reunion.
On September 29 it will be the turn of matric year 2000, so don't take your degree before then! You can book your place here.
Senior Members from earlier matriculation years who have not already taken their MAs might like to know that as part of the annual Oxford Alumni Weekend (this year to be held on 14-16 September) a special MA ceremony
in the Sheldonian is planned. You can find out more about the weekend here.
If you would like to take your MA, in person or in absentia, please fill in this form. Please note that this form is for those taking the MA only. If you are taking your MA in conjunction with another degree (i.e. your B.A.) please
