| Living
in College
All undergraduates are guaranteed
rooms in their first year and in one further year of their
course. These rooms are all on the main college site. The
majority of students can also have rooms in college during
their second year, but a small number have to live out.
A ballot is organised each year by the JCR to decide which
students can have rooms. In deciding which students are to
be included in the ballot account is taken of the nature of
the course being followed and of the personal circumstances
of individual students.
Most students on four-year courses live out in their final
year, but most can have rooms in college for three out of
their four years. Undergraduates with senior status on a two-year
course are not required to live out. Visiting students are
offered rooms for the single year of their course.

| Rowing is a very popular sport
with the LMH students. |
The Junior Common Room is in effect
the students' club or union in LMH and all undergraduates
are automatically members. It provides an organisation and
framework for much of the non-academic side of student life.
These include:
- Sports - football, rowing, squash
and many others(we have some facilities on site; others
we share with Trinity),
- Music and drama - regular concerts
and plays are organised and produced in LMH (sometimes in
the gardens) which include our own students and others.
- Societies for academic interest (such
as the flourishing history and law societies),
- Groups that seek to play a role in
the wider community of the city of Oxford, often by helping
the disadvantaged.
- Our own punts, moored in our gardens
- And
of course.. social
events, ranging from regular college discos to parties and
quizzes
The executive committee, elected by the
undergraduates, is concerned with student welfare in matters
of health, housing and safety, and exists to "seek maximum
representation and involvement for its members in the government
of college". Some of the elected officers of the JCR
attend College's Governing Body and other committees.
The common room itself is provided with a television, newspapers
and magazines. There is also the games room. These rooms and
the college bar are the centre of social activities in College.
The Junior Common Room has its own web page at www.lmhjcr.co.uk.
LMH students also take part in University clubs. Most students
enjoy a combination of college and university activities.

| Good food in the LMH Dining Hall
at reasonable prices |
LMH offers good food in the Dining Hall
at reasonable prices. Lunch and dinner are available in the
College Hall on a self-service system, although once a week
a formal dinner is provided for members of the College and
their guests. There is a variety of choice to suit all tastes,
and provision for vegetarians. There are also many small shared
kitchen areas (pantires) which permit a limited degree of
self-catering.
In common with most Oxford colleges,
students either make a termly pre-payment for meals taken
in college, or, alternatively are required to make a contribution
towards the overhead of providing the catering facilities.
