The Middle Common Room (MCR)
Graduate students, although they share other College facilities
and activities, also form their own community in the Middle
Common Room (MCR). The MCR enjoys a well-equipped common room
in one of the new buildings, which offers a kitchen, television
room, and social areas. The interests of graduates in college
are looked after by the MCR committee, and many social activities,
both within and outside of the college, are organised by an
MCR social secretary. Some of the elected officers of the
MCR attend College's Governing Body and other committees,
which discuss matters affecting junior members of college.
The College has several societies that cater for academic
interests (such as the flourishing history and law societies),
and groups that seek to play a role in the wider community
of the city of Oxford, often by helping the disadvantaged.
Membership of LMH does not, of course, prevent students from
exercising their talents or pursuing their interests in the
extensive array of University clubs, and most students enjoy
a combination of college and university activities.
Sports
The college has a wide range of sports teams, including several
mixed teams and a girls' football and rugby team. It is always
willing to form a new team if there is enough interest. Graduate
students often play with undergraduates on the college's various
teams, although the MCR does have its own football (soccer)
team. As well as the more formal intra-mural teams, impromptu
games of American football or soccer are often organised.
LMH also has a weight fitness room, a squash court, tennis
courts, and punting facilities.
